The Mars Observer spacecraft was shipped from General Electric's Astro-Space Division in Princeton, New Jersey, to JPL's Hangar AO at Kennedy Space Center in mid-June. There, it underwent final checkout and testing before it was mated to the Transfer Orbit Stage (TOS) booster and stacked atop the Titan III launch vehicle.
